Jane and By Dod were original waterfront homeowners in Huntington Harbour. Jane Dod, a lover of music, decided in 1952 that she wanted to do something special during the holidays to raise some money for the local children's school music programs.
Her husband thought it was a great idea. Together, they rounded up eight couples with little boats and had a small holiday boat parade through the harbour waterways. Each couple donated $6. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the boat parade. These days, the boat parade is a thank you to residents for decorating their homes. Why?
