I m going to New York in August and staying for 4 or 5 days. My best friend is flying in from London to meet me and niether of us have ever been to New York. We are both college students and don t have a ton of money. We want to stay in a hotel close to the major sights but not some where too expensive. We would also like to experience the night life there so we need some ideas of where to go. My budget is probably around $1000.00 for a hotel room and spending money. Thank you so much for your help.
2. empire state building- start queueing @ around 5pm. by the time you reached up there, it ll be dusk. you ll catch the beautiful dusk in nyc. wait around for a while until you see the night view too! after that, head down to times square!
My least expensive stay was in New Jersey, then take the train to Grand Central Station. I like trains, so that was fun AND less expensive. I might not have seen the vampire girls! holidae inn chingy Anyhow, the major sights are all over the place, so expect to either use the subway or get a lot of walking in. I preferred the walking because the subway there seems like a real confusing mess.
I went in Jan and stayed for 3 days, i stayed at La Quinta Manhattan which was a 100 usd a night (for 2 people), had free breakfast and Internet, and close the Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden and Macy s, so the hotel was great and about the sightseeing i went to the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park, China Town, Little Italy, Empire State Building, Ground Zero, The Rockefeller center (and skated) i didn t really shop but i bought some souvenirs for me and my family and had my three meals haha! and oh! i bought a metro card for 7 days (cause it was cheaper than buying one per day). And i did all of this with around 300usd Ok i didn t have fancy meals, i didn t go to Broadway and didn t took a ride in a limo or taxi.. but i had a great time! It was my first time in NYC and im looking forward to going back! So i think you ll do great, i mean you are staying 1 o 2 days more than i did and you have 3 times the money i took! so just organize your trip and i think you ll do fine! Have a great time in NYC!
being entirely honest, holidae inn chingy you should reconsider the trip. if you only have $1,000 for the trip, even splitting hotel costs with your buddy, you won t have enough to really enjoy the city. save the trip for another time, or shorten the trip to three days.
i lived in ny for 28 years now. You def have to visit brooklyn and manhattan. the better of the 5 boroughs. Manahattan has great food, shopping and sites. You have all the skyscrappers like empire state, holidae inn chingy view the site of the twin towers as well as other landmarks like madison square holidae inn chingy garden or ride the subways and explorer the great world of shopping in the city. could be dept shopping like bloomingdales or visit china town and expericence homeade chinese food as well as little italy which is italian style. if u go to bklyn you have to visit the famous coney island and have a nathans hotdog and beer a must as well as take a ride on teh famous wooden rollercoast or walk around the aquarium. hope this helps check out ny tourism sites
you can try to go to www.hotel.com, it s a best place to search for hotel. I did that for my friend once who also travel to NY. Try to book some hotels around seventy-something street or eighty-something street. It s not right in the heart of midtown, but public transportation is very easy to get around in NY. There is a subway station right on 72nd street and Broadway/7th avenue and 86th Street and 7th Avenue. 100th to 105th is pretty much Harlem Area, I wouldnt suggest you and your friend stay there, although the hotel is pretty cheap, but it isnt safe. If you stay close to major sights, hotels usually holidae inn chingy cost more.
