I can't tell you how many formal nights there will be CG but if you are like me you will take more than you need just in case We stay at the Premier Inn West Quay. Clean reasonable price. Next door to Carnival House, and close to the shops and the cruise terminal. Book online they have some good offers. They do a decent breakfast as well.

As for overnight accommodation we always use the Premier Inn Southampton North at Nursling. This is about 3 miles from the cruise terminal and you can leave your car on their car park. The rest of the nights are sort of casual elegant. Men will be just fine in open neck shirt and proper trousers. Shirts can be short or long sleeved but must have a collar (in other words no Tshirts).
