My parents turned 60 this year AND it's their 30th wedding hotels on the plaza in kansas city anniversary, so I'd like to send them on a tour of Italy in December (as my dad is guaranteed vacation time then). I'm having trouble locating bus type guided tours for Italy however. If anyone knows, please tell me!
Just wanted to check why a bus tour? Italy is really easy to travel and the only person I ever heard who didn't like the food in Italy was on a tour due to the fact that they could only go to larger restaurants and I suspect there was some kickback involved from the restaurant to the tour. What about the idea of planning a bit of a tour schedule for them, reserving accommodations for them and giving them a train schedule?
Forget the train.........they have steep steps to board and is not easy with 2 x 20 kg suitcases and hand luggage. Try Trafalgar hotels on the plaza in kansas city or Globus coach tours, they cart your luggage to and from the coach. Just completed a coach tour of Europe with people of all ages, including an 80 year old couple...... It was great.
60's not old. I'm 71 and while calendar 'old' - remain hotels on the plaza in kansas city active and well able to travel independently. My wife and I enjoy doing our own thing - we've rented cars in Malaysia and Turkey for self-drive holidays, several trips to the USA - rented cars. All after 60!
Agree with those who say you should find out what they want. Are they really "tour bus people"? As over 60's my wife and I regularly travel without the need of tour guides, inclusive meals, coach parties etc.. And yes we can get on Italian trains with our baggage, and yes we do drive hire cars in Italy (as recently as last week), so unless they need escorting, or are afraid of travelling on their own, or have perhaps some sort of medical condition, make sure they want a package tour and not the freedom to do their own thing
