Toyota had a huge recall on a number of Tundras and Tacomas. A huge problem with the frames rusting. To fix this they are recalling all of them for inspection and possible frame replacement. They also give a rental vehicle at their expense. I took my 2000 Tundra in today and all the rentals are through Enterprise. Enterprise tried giving me a Toyota Yaris. That was a quick, I'm not driving something so tiny and gay. I asked for a truck and this other guy pulled around a brand new F150 4wd with the Ecoboost engine. I hope Toyota keeps my truck for awhile while I drive this thing. This truck is way quicker than my Tundra and way way nicer. Twin turbo V6 FTW.
I have 02' f150 4x4 supercrew and 02' tacoma 4x4. Both are incredible machines never had an issue with either of them! Dont know about the Tundras, but the Tacomas I believe were just the first gen (prior to 2005). Not sure of the specific years. From what I understand, best maui dinner cruise most romantic if the rust isnt bad, they clean it up and spray a protective coating on it. If its real bad, then a new frame is needed. The second gens are awesome though. I love mine.
