Our 8th trip to Aruba was spectacular national rent a car uk as were the previous 7. Arrived via JetBlue on the 15th ontime to perfect weather. Picked up the rental car and we were at the Marriott Ocean Club's checkin desk in no time. The room was ready and following national rent a car uk a quick droping off of the luggage, it was off to the pool bar for a relaxing drink. Palapa rentals were next and then a quiet stroll down the beach to unwind from the flight.
This was the first trip that we met up with family on the island. My wife's sister and her husband were on the island staying at La Cabanna. We met them for a simple dinner at Smokey Joe's...excellent ribs...and a tasty Green Monster drink.
Sunday was a perfect beach day and we settled under the palapa for drinks, surf, and good reading. Being careful not to overdue the sun on day 1, we spent time in the shade of the palapa. Caught up with the family for dinner at Texas de Brazil....melt in your mouth filet mignon! A little gambling at the Marriott to cap the evening.
Monday was again a perfect weather day, low wind and perfect temperatures. Never tire of the beach and perfect water to float and forget about work and the cooling weather back in the Massachusetts. Dinner was at Pinchos, our first time there. We received a recommendation national rent a car uk to go there from the tourism person for Aruba at the Boston Wine Expo last January. We arrived at that perfect time just as the sun crossed the horizon...the colors are spectacular...we were told that since we did not have reservations we would have to have one of the not so prime seats...yikes!! The seats were perfect and the views inspiring. The food was very good...we would highly recommend this restaurant to all.
Tuesday brought problems for my sister-in-law. She woke up at 5 AM with multiple national rent a car uk bug bites on her legs. An examination of the bed revealed a nuber of bugs and bite marks with welts and blood on her ankles...not beg bugs thank goodness but they appeared to be flying ants...which was later confirmed by pest control. The staff at LaCabanna was not very helpful and at first tried to pass the problem off as dirt in the bed and typical tropical bug bites. After 4 hours and eventually national rent a car uk medical treatment , they receieved confirmation of the infestation from pest control and received a new room. I am surprised at the lack of response from the LaCabanna staff and manager national rent a car uk given all the good things I have read on the posts here about this resort. My sister-in-law was very upset and they spent the day with us at the Marriott beach.
Wednesday we took a trip around the island. I served as the tour guide starting with the required climb of Mt. Haystack! If you haven't tried it, look for the stairs on the north side and bring sneakers and water and prepare for a good workout. The climb will test your conditioning and just when you think you are at the top, the stairs turn 90 degrees and you see the additional climb ahead of you. You will be treated with spectacular views. A trip to the National Park, Natural Bridge, caves, California Lighthouse, etc. followed. Downtown for some shopping and lunch at Iquana Joe's (fried oreos...mmmm) and back to the hotels to enjoy the pool and get ready for dinner at Pago Pago at the Westin followed by some more gambling. The Westin casino renovations are pretty good and we enjoyed revisitiing the first hotel we stayed at in Aruba (formerly the Wyndham).
Friday was a bad weather day with plenty of clouds and rain. Still better than being at work so we spent the day on the deck at the Marriott or by the pool bar. Sunset cruise was cancelled due to rough seas but there will always be next year.
Kent, we will be there from June 23rd to the 30th next year. This trip was great and I forgot to mention another great dinner at el gauchos. Can't wait to get back. Trying to plan a second trip next November too! As I've posted before, Aruba is by far the best island we have been able to visit and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be able to return often to see old friends and make new ones.
