All-and-all I enjoyed the hotel and since I don’t think the whole “brown water” issue is a standard
If James Bond were to visit New York City, The Hudson is the hotel he would stay at. Covert, yet elegant, and with a bar that would be more than happy to serve you a martini shaken, not stirred, The Hudson is a very unique hotel, in a very unique city.
So first things first, The Hudson is a hotel for people car rentals at vancouver airport who want to stay a bit on the anonymous-side. There is no address printed on the front of the building and you won't find the name of the hotel anywhere on the building. car rentals at vancouver airport In fact, when you walk-into the hotel you end-up in a weird rectangular room with about twenty doors, all leading to nowhere. To access the hotel you take a long, unmarked escalator to a dark and elegant lobby.
Of course, I didn't know this at first so I asked the people at the front desk, "Is there any way to know this is The Hudson Hotel from the outside? I had a heck of a time finding it!" To which they responded, "Actually this is a hotel for people who come to NYC and don't want to be found."
The lobby intersects with a restaurant and two bars, one of which turns into a swanky nightclub on the weekends. The rooms go from tiny to huge for New York City and travelers on a budget will be happy to know you can get a room for under $150/night which is an absolute steal in New York City, if you don't mind living in a shoebox while you're in town.
Travelers looking car rentals at vancouver airport for a more civilized room can opt for a business suite, which is much more like a normal hotel room. I stayed in their smallest room which was very small at a total of 140 square feet! Still, if you come to New York City you shouldn't be spending much time in your room so unless you're claustrophobic this might be fine. You can spend the few hundred dollars you save on a Broadway show or trip to the top-floor bar at The Standard.
The Hudson's location is phenomenal located at 58 th and 9 th in midtown Manhattan making it easy to go uptown or downtown in a snap. The service was good and they offer free WiFi which always wins a hotel major bonus points in my book.
The only major issue I had with this hotel was the bathroom. The first night I arrived I went to brush my teeth to find dark brown water coming out of my sink. I called downstairs and asked what was going on and they told me there had been a "plumbing emergency" then when I asked if it was dirt or, uh, something else, they said they didn't know. Yuk! On top of this the showerhead dribbled water even after the plumbing was fixed leaving some very unsatisfying morning car rentals at vancouver airport experiences.
All-and-all I enjoyed the hotel and since I don't think the whole "brown water" issue is a standard occurrence. I would stay again, but next time I'll pick a room that's a bit bigger. car rentals at vancouver airport If you want to stay in a great part of New York City and save some money while feeling a bit like a secret agent, then I'd highly recommend The Hudson.
