When you're not getting on a bike or scrambling down a rock face, check out some of the well-preserved traditional towns that sit beneath the mountains, such as Deia and Valldemossa.
We might be about to change Popes in Rome, but the Vatican City itself will stay reassuringly the same, right down to the traditional uniforms that the guards wear.
