When it comes to air travel, Mexico is definitely a world-class country. Still, you should carefully consider whether you really want to opt for air travel in Mexico.  Many tourist attractions are less than a five-hour bus ride from Mexico City, and often even a shorter bus ride than that between each other.  If the bus ride is going to be five hours or less, it makes a lot of sense to hop a bus rather than take a plan.  Since the airport is farther out than the bus station, you will have to spend more time and energy getting to and from your arrival and departure points.  Further, Mexican buses are quite cheap by North American or European standards, often coming out to less than two hundred pesos (twenty US dollars) for a one-way ticket on a five hour or less trip.  These buses are every bit as comfortable as the long-distance buses in any other country.  Don't let yourself be confused by the rumbling, chicken-laden converted school buses portrayed by Hollywood, where feelings toward Mexico and Mexicans are not exactly warm.
