Travelers are often required to book flights weeks or even months in advance if they want to avoid paying a premium price, and though last-minute eaton adaptive cruise control travel is more affordable, it s not always an option to book down to the wire. New startup SteadyFare is hoping to provide travelers with a solution to this problem with their online booking platform that lets people lock in flight prices without having to book well in advance. Right now travelers can search eaton adaptive cruise control for flights booked from NYC, Los Angeles and San Francisco to a variety of global destinations including Paris and Hong Kong, though they haven t opened bookings up yet.
SteadyFare co-founders and travel enthusiasts Jack Connor and Ryan Houck said in an interview that the company, which is currently participating eaton adaptive cruise control in Dubai-based accelerator program SeedStartup , is aiming its services at anyone who is price-conscious but also can t necessarily commit to flights well in advance. We ve always eaton adaptive cruise control found the process of booking tickets eaton adaptive cruise control to be really frustrating, Houck said. It seems like you either have to buy it really early in advance when you don t know how your plans might change, or buy it really late and then you re forced to pay high prices.
Connor and Houck explained that SteadyFare uses statistical techniques to lock in flight prices. You simply pick a range of dates that you might want to travel during, and based on these times our site will display flights and prices for you, Connor said. Then you can either buy an airplane ticket for this time or pay an upfront fee to lock in the price, so you can come back at whatever time and still pay the price we quoted you. Travelers can lock in from one to seven travel dates, so if their dates aren t set in stone they have some flexibility, and right now they can only search for round-trip flights.
The upfront eaton adaptive cruise control fee guarantees that all displayed prices will remain the same if they choose to purchase tickets at a later date, and travelers can hold the flights until either two weeks or one month before departure. Connor said the fee for locking in flight prices varies depending on the locations the travelers are going to and coming from, as well as the length of time they want the price locked for (locking in a price until two weeks before will incur a bigger upfront fee than one month before). If someone decides not to book the flight as planned, SteadyFare eaton adaptive cruise control keeps the upfront fee, but travelers don t have to pay the ticket price.
A traveler going from NYC s JFK airport to Paris leaving eaton adaptive cruise control October 10th and returning October 17th, with a lock-in period eaton adaptive cruise control of four weeks, would be charged $950 for the ticket price, and $35 for the holding fee (a four-week holding fee would be $1081 for the ticket, and $40 for the holding fee). In comparison, a similar flight search on Expedia yields a lowest price of $803 for the same dates and route, though only two tickets were available at that price.
Much like travel booking site Hotwire, travelers can t see the name of the airline or the exact time they re flying, which could be a big deterrent for travelers who are loyal to specific airlines, or want to know if they re getting a direct flight. The company is planning to add the ability to choose airline, timing, and route preferences.
While every airline eaton adaptive cruise control offers online eaton adaptive cruise control booking eaton adaptive cruise control capabilities, and there are countless flight search sites like Hipmunk, Expedia and Kayak, not many have adopted this price locking capability, eaton adaptive cruise control though eaton adaptive cruise control there are many price alert services that let travelers know when flight prices drop. While United Airline s FareLock feature does offer generally the same service as SteadyFare, it only allows users to lock their prices in for either eaton adaptive cruise control three days, or one week, and SteadyFare is hoping their platform s ability to lock prices for longer periods of time will be a major selling point. What we re offering is the ability to hold your fare price for longer periods of time, Connor said. So anyone who s price conscious or has scheduling uncertainty can make informed decisions without pressure.
The company notes that the lock in price isn t necessarily the current lowest price for that ticket, rather it s determined by expected price movement, how long a customer wants to lock it in, and other factors. This could deter travelers who can find a flight cheaper on sites like Expedia, but Steadyfare might be more attractive to travelers who want flexibility with their dates, rather than the absolute lowest price, since most airlines charge steep cancellation fees for travelers who can t make a flight. And unlike when buying flight insurance or a refundable eaton adaptive cruise control ticket, users don t have to pay for the full ticket price up front. With a public launch planned for early 2013, the company s success will depend on building a base of travelers who value flexibility over price.
