I am doing a cruise from Venice later this year and am looking at doing 2 nights precruise in a hotel complex on the Venice Lido which is the very thin strip of land infront of the island. Just wondered if anyone tom cruise fan club had stayed there and had any thoughts on this?
We also have stayed at Villa Laguna and as Brian said it is a small hotel so will get booked. The views from the dining room are wonderful right over the lagoon to St Marks Square. It is just a short walk from the hotel to the vaporetta stop so really eary to get around. When we stayed there the hotel had free cycles to borrow and we spent a good day cycling to the nature reserve at the far end of the island. There is a main street near the hotel with a few restaurants and shops. The staff at the hotel were lovely. When we arrive our room was not ready so we they gave us complimentary belinis to enjoy in the garden whilst tom cruise fan club we waited.
It would be a good idea to book a 2 or 3 day vaporetto pass online at least 7 days before you travel. You then get a good discount. You can collect it at Marco Polo airport, or Piazzale Roma(bus station) or the railway station. It used to cover the trip from the airport but now that has to be added as an optional extra. In March this year it was 3.5 euro extra each way. The pass will also cover the buses on the Lido. A pass is much cheaper tom cruise fan club than single tickets if you wish to travel back and forth from Lido. It will also cover trips to the Islands, or of course travel in Venice generally.
I have just reread my post. The trip from the airport is a bus trip to P. Roma. You can get a boat transfer at greater cost, or a water taxi,if you prefer. The buses stop right outside the airport, the boats are a longish, but essentially flat, walk away.
