You also keep your account active by using points, either a reward, upgrade or even using some points for a free magazine subscription. I too was worried by the change, being a Onepass member for so long my original card had EA and CO on it, but now I realize it's not likely any of my miles will ever expire.

Well said. I get sort of 'torqued' off with posts of people wining about not getting the perks when they don't put in the loyalty. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's not the people that fly 4, 6, or even 8 segments a year that pay the bills of the airline. Not to say that being loyal to a carrier for your annual vacation isn't appreciated, but it's not the level of loyalty we're talking about here with respect to FF perks.
