The recent New Tourism Act removes much of the complicated administration restraints that have slowed the building and renovation of hotels and apartments in the past and many hotel chains are capitalising on this. Last summer the Melia group built the new Beach House Hotel and revamped the Sol Wave House in Magaluf in just eight months and there seem to be other companies looking to follow that example.
In Alcudia the city council has already received applications for four major works and seven smaller ones and one chain, Grupotel, have invested 9.5 million Euros to refurbish four of it s hotels in Mallorca.
