HALIMEDA, our Island Packet IP45 sailing yacht departed Norfolk this morning on an ocean training cruise bound for Bermuda, a distance of 650 nautical miles, with a crew of six sailors headed by Captain Jochen Hoffmann. We'll periodically post her position based on reports from the onboard Skymate satellite tracking system.
At 1730 on May 30th, Captain cruises carribean Jochen Hoffman called me by radio telephone and reported HALIMEDA's position at 3456N and 7050W or 285 miles from Norfolk and 335 miles from Bermuda. All crewmembers are doing fine in currently light winds. ETA at Bermuda is currently Monday afternoon, cruises carribean June 2nd.
HALIMEDA and crew arrived in Bermuda today, Monday June 2 at 11:15 AM. All is well with vessel and crew. HALIMEDA is tied up at HUNTER'S WHARF and the June 6-13 crew should meet her there for the return trip.
