The Royal Crescent is an architectural masterpiece by any standards. And lucky me I get to stay in The Royal Crescent Hotel which sits right at its heart. It has to be the finest location of all Bath hotels with its beautiful secret gardens,  fabulous spa, renowned restaurant and wonderful accommodation.
Begun in 1767 by John Wood the Younger, the crescent took eight years to complete and included some of the grandest houses in Bath. John Wood was utterly determined that his masterpiece should las vegas car rental present a prospect of total uniformity and understated gracefulness. His sweeping vision and scrupulous attention to every detail has created a great elliptical las vegas car rental curve almost fifty feet high and five hundred feet long that comprises thirty houses of grand proportions.
Such harmony, restraint and elegance, plus the gently sloping sweep of grass that stretches before it, always has the same effect; whether you are seeing the crescent for the very first time, or for the hundredth, it is a sight that never fails to draw a gasp of amazement.
When the famous literary hostess, Mrs Elizabeth Montagu, came to live at No.16 in 1780, she declared that, "The beautiful situation of the crescent cannot be understood by any comparison with anything in any town whatsoever."
On arrival at The Royal Crescent I am served Earl Grey in the drawing room where a lovely smokey fire is crackling away. I am then given a tour of the property the spa is truly amazing and I cannot wait to be soaking las vegas car rental in one of the wooden hot tubs. After a quick peruse of the restaurant and a peak at the menu I shall be indulging in tonight I head to my deluxe suite located on the 3rd floor. It is slightly chintzy las vegas car rental in style but manages to pull it off (just!) as we are in Jane Austen country and one look out of the huge window at the stunning square takes any apprehension away. Wi-fi is standard which is great as I am able to fit in a couple of hours of work before heading to the spa.
The Bath House Spa is the Royal Crescent s crowning glory focusing on the natural elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, The Bath House embraces both ancient and modern day spa culture. The setting is incomparable - created las vegas car rental from a converted coach house and stables, opening onto the beautiful gardens. I enjoy the wonderful services on offer including the relaxation pool which is heated to 35 degrees centigrade, cool and tepid plunge tubs, sauna and steam Karahafus. I skipped the fully equipped gymnasium naughty me! I spent a few hours mooching around and found the place blissfully relaxing, very quiet and scrupulously las vegas car rental clean. Top marks from me.
When it was time for my hot stone massage the therapist popped las vegas car rental in to gibe me a 15 minute warning very thoughtful. Treatments on offer range from soothing massages to full aromatherapy facials, las vegas car rental and from fruit enzyme wraps to holistic foot and nail treatments. My hot stone treatment was indulgent but surprisingly reviving a good thing as I was booked in for dinner shortly.
Dinner was booked in for 8:30pm and I was so impressed when the Maitre d phoned my room to let me know the restaurant was exceptionally quiet that night so I could dress down if I liked. I jumped straight out of my cocktail dress and into my Sass and Bide leggings hoorah! On arrival I partook in a Bellini and had a chat with the Maitre d who told me all abut the history of the Dower House which is where the restaurant is located. George IV lived at the Dower House in 1799 as the Prince of Wales and the Duke and Duchess lived there 1766 to 1767.
As a small aperitif I had smoked nuts with chilli olives and on moving to my table a fabulous las vegas car rental pancetta brioche. The menu was promising ( as you d expect from Bath s number one fine dining establishment) and I opted for roasted langoustine, cauliflower panacotta, salt cod creme fraiche, caviar and a salad of soft herbs. The light and refeshing salt cod was a perfect accompaniment to my Chablis but the pannacotta lacked any real flavour.
las vegas car rental For my main I had wild sea bass with lobster ravioli, celery, fennel and pearl onion puree. This meal had all my favourite ingredients and did not disappoint in the slightest. Is there anything finer in life than seabass and fennel?
The sommelier was well mannered and knowledgeable pairing exquisite wines with each course. Including a stunning muscat veneece to complement my desert of sage roulade, sharp orange puree and bitter chocolate, cointreau sorbet.
